    Places besides craigslist , Backpage , use everywhere , Kijiji but similar to them.

    How fast do you want to traffic to arrive? Because the thing with free traffic is that it is slower than paid traffic. As well as free traffic takes up a lot more effort.

    From my experience, free traffic from ads sites doesn't worth much, you might get some clicks but your conversion rate will be very low..
    of courseit depend on the product you wish to promote, but i tried that with few products and it didn't go well at all.

    What business are you looking to advertise?

    If you are advertising a local business, word of mouth would be beneficial for your business.

    As a start, you can post in lots of directories (free or paid) to gain exposure for your business.

    Get familiar with creating and ranking videos for video marketing.
    Videos are an excellent source of free advertising.

    There are quite a few good courses around on the subject.

    Look for the courses which show you how to create free, interactive
    videos. An interactive video would be one that allows the viewer to
    click on various links you've embedded within the video itself.

    They convert very well.

    Correction. Free advertising does work. It just works slower. But at least for people that can't afford paid advertising, it gives them an opportunity to at least do some advertising. I always believe that as long as your advertising technique can reach out t your audience it's good advertising. No point paying $100 for advertising that your target audience won't even get exposed to right?
