Places to advertise and get traffic?

I am interested in advertising my website but due to that fact it has "tobacco related" content I can't use most common places like Google/Facebook.

I recently discovered Reddit ad's and it's pretty great. Do you guys know of other places to place somewhat targeted ads or get traffic?

Something that has worked really well for me in the past to get very targeted traffic, is offering other websites content with a link at the bottom of the article to your site.
What you need to do is find websites that got really high traffic (Alexa 20K - 100K). Sites like that need content all the time, and most of them actually buy articles. Just write them a mail that you are willing to provide good quality content for free.

Granted, not all site owners will reply, but if just one agrees a day, you can get hundreds of free visitors to your site, for years to come Just make sure the content is quality though.

Look up some top sites in your niche and contact them and ask to advertise on their site!

 

Have you tried backpage.com? I don't think they're too restrictive on the tobacco products.

 

So is backpage.com just like a craigslist?

Use article marketing related to your niche site's . That's will give you referring visitors.

 

Try Kijiji or Backpage if you are looking for a Craigslist alternative. Actually, in some countries Kijiji gets more traffic than Craigslist. Might be worth a shot depending on where you live.

 

I was actually looking for places to advertise similar to Reddit, cheap and targeted. Reddit costs .75 cents per 1,000 impressions and you can target different categories.

 

Here is an idea:

Think of sites related to your niche that have a good alexa rank and try contacting the site owners about placing a banner on their site for 30 days. Start slow and if it shows to be converting you can always scale it. The key of course is to direct traffic to a landing page if not you are leaving a lot of money on the table.

You can try SEOclerks, as there are many freelancers on this site providing traffic at a cheap rates.

 

Their traffic is useless.
