What is the best place to place keywords in a website. What makes search engines see keywords of one website before they see keywords of another website. One more thing.
I am having some doubts in how search engines treat singular and plural in keywords. for example: *** supplier, ***suppliers, ***shopping site, ***shopping sites, provider, providers. Do we need to take care of both these words? How google treat these words and how it weighs the importance? Any suggestion will help me improve in optimizing my sites.

Best place to keep keywords is in title, content and meta tags of the site.

Generally, search engine will consider *** supplier and ***suppliers as the same. But you'd better to optimize both of them to assure your contents rank in the top place of the google lists when the readers search *** supplier or ***suppliers

    imo keywords should be in:

    1) Title
    2) Sub titles
    3) Text
    4) Meta tags

    Tags - post here
    Content - post here
Footer - You can have a line of text with all your keywords on it, each one pointing back to your site

Yes, Placing your targeted Keyword in the title is one of the most important on page factors. Along with that it should be present in the description tag, <H1> heading tag and definitely in the body content.

I think both singular and plural versions of the keywords should be targeted in order to drive more traffic.

The best place is right after the title and the meta tags section. It's where the bots will start crawling and you might want to have all your important keywords there.
