Pixel or No Pixel that's the question...

I want to cloak my links but I've read somewhere the the Amazon links absolutely need the pixels in it to count.

    Is this true?

Nope. Plain text links work just fine without tracking images.

    The old format still works:
    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/PUT-ASIN-HERE/AssociatesID-20

    And the new format too:
    http://www.amazon.com/dp/PUT-ASIN-HERE/?tag=your_Associates_ID

The links never required a tracking image. Amazon prefers it, but it isn't mandatory.
