Piwik uses its own process for determining clicks. Piwik is more accurate at visitor counts because it filters out robots and automatic clicks. You only get a count of actually visitors to your website. GA does not filter out robots by default. http://piwik.org/faq/troubleshooting/#faq_50
I think Piwik is more transparent and definitive. I used one in the site of online door mat known as ultimats.in Kraj
I already using google analytics for years, I think it is too complicated, no real time logs. So now I am moving to piwik because of it's simplicity & real time visitor features.
We've just started using Piwik and it seems very good. I really like the mobile functionality and the reporting is as good, if not better than GA.
Awesome! Thanks for the tip, I will try this out and get back to this post to give a report on my finding's.
well i have used both but truly speaking there were some shortfalls in the design of google analytics but now they have upgraded with the new interface. while on the other hand Piwik is good to use but there is a little improvement is required such as customized reports etc
i think its a new one..havent heard it before but as i checked it out it seems interesting and i would like to give it a try
I am going to install Piwik on one of my domains soon which is hosted on a new server setup I recently bought. Previously I have attempted installing it, but the server I was trying to install it on didn't seem to support Piwik's requirements.
Piwik is a Free web analytics software package. It provides detailed reports on your website and its visitors, including the search engines and keywords they used, the language they speak, which pages they like, the files they download… and so much more. Google Analytics is good. Full stop. Nothing to doubt about: - It is free - It has a good interface - It is really easy to understand - It is really easy to install - It runs on Google servers (not your traffic) What is good about Piwik: - It is free as well - It has a pretty nice and configurable interface - It pretty easy to install, even if it is not as easy as Google Analytics - The data is stored on your OWN server: you control the data, you can do further analysis (click paths, etc.) and you can connect analytics data with other data. - You can access raw data Piwik aims to be an open source alternative to Google Analytics.
Never heard of them until you mentioned, checked them out and it doesn't look bad at all. Don't know much about them, but any competition is good for the market.

I think giving Google a data for tweaking their alghoritm isn`t a good idea , so Piwik is for the people who don`t want to share the informations so easy with Google ,I think whole SEO world should use something like Piwik ,because Google makes our life harder every day and most of the reasons of that are people using GA, Google have everythink what they need about us. Of course there are a lot of free tools they probably use too to gather the informations about us but GA is the most important one I think. I am using Piwik on hundreds of my own websites and it works perfectly. I have everything I need.
When I can I use both GA and Piwik but still ... I really love and prefer Piwik exactly because of the reasons NareshReddy and cory.r.west mentioned above: Easy to install/update, the data is on your own server!!! and the interface is user friendly! You can customize the feel and look the way you like it and also I love the "Visitors in real time" future.
