OMG.... Firstly, I must admit that I absolutely bum Hans Zimmer (the composer). I think his work is just amazing (and if you want to listen, id advise myspace or buy a CD!) Ive just got the soundtrack of Pirates of the Caribbean after seeing the film a few weeks ago - and it sounds so amazing! Ive listened to the battle scene score about 50 times today! (nd now my iPod battery is getting low, as i have the volume on full to really appreciate the sound!) Ive yet to really listen to any of the other tracks, as this was the 'flagship' score in the movie, supposedly. Though, I remember Parlay (the first time ive heard Zimmer use an electric guitar quite like that) was also very inspiring. Anyone else like him?
Hans Zimmer is an extremely talented guy and composes quite a lot of the modern and well liked movie soundtracks. I liked the Pirates music but still rate the Gladiator score much higher.
What is the title of this battle score? I think I'll download. Also just came to know that Hans Zimmer played keyboards for Video Killed the Radio Star (by Buggles) which is a good number too.
Track number 10 on the album i downloaded....its about 11 minutes long nd 15MB lol! Parlay and Hoist the Colours are also awesome, imho.
I like Pirates of the Caribbean (well, the three movies) and as you say, the soundtrack is amazing. I don't usually like soundtracks, but I have those 3 cds, they are really good.
When I heard the music in the movie for the first time I also thought that it really stood out. Most film scores don't make me stop and think about them but for some reason the Pirates one was very impressive. Now that you say it's worth listening to on its own I might go pick it up myself!
I've seen the movie (who hasn't!) and loved He's a Pirate from 1 and 2! I have recently downloaded many of the songs from all films and I too think they are fantastic! I listen to them over and over again and still don't get bored. Hans Zimmer is very talented and in my opinion until you hear the music by itself, you don't really appreciate what an effect it has on the film. Fantastic!
