Both Pinterest and Facebook are used by consumers to connect with people who have similar interests and styles. But Pinterest is more often used for shopping inspiration, tracking and product discovery. 69% of Pinterest's online consumers have found an item they’ve purchased or wanted to purchase, as compared to only 40% of online consumers who visit Facebook. Also, more online consumers agree that Pinterest is a place to get inspiration on what to buy, help keep track of or collect things they like, and to keep up with the latest trends .

Spoon or fork. What will make you eat faster? This question can be interpreted in this way. It all depends on the situation. Certainly more exposure you get on facebook but pinerest also has its advantages. Try and see what works best in your case.

The situation and effort done on each platform can tell this precisely. But Facebook has more users and following than Pinterest, so it is possible that in most of the cases it is Facebook who leads.

You're comparing apples and oranges. Each one could be better than the other, but it depends on what type of product or website you are advertising. Give us more information on your niche, product, or service and we can see where it would fit.

Though, one thing off that bat is that Facebook is a much broader audience (more people from a wider range of backgrounds.) Pinterest is a lot less broad, but it can be more concise.

But again, it all depends on what your niche is.

I definitely agree. I think it also depends on the product/service you are selling. Pinterest works very well with a product/service that photographs well. My clients who sell wedding cakes, for example, have a lot of success on Pinterest but my clients who sell tax services do better on Facebook. Like you said, apples and oranges.

In my opinion if you've got an established fan base, then Facebook brings even more.

Facebook is a great tool for building and maintaining a community. It shares a lot in common with email marketing.

Pinterest can bring in plenty of traffic as well, but it's more about people sharing content. You have less control over the community, but if you have some quality content that gets popular on Pinterest, you will be very please with the results :)

If you're selling a product, Pinterest has the advantage of showing the price on the pictures. Also, it had a spectacular growth lately. That doesn't mean that Facebook is less important. No, if you want get good results, you should use them both.

It depends on your market and who you cater to. If your niche is clothing for women then I think it is essential you be on Pinterest AND Facebook. If you cater to a male demographic then I see no need for you to be on Pinterest unless you see a lot of potential on Pinterest. You need to do research. Evaluate your market and find out where they are, and go to them! It might be both, it might be one, it might be none!

Both of them are good sites to get involved with.

You need to find out which one works better for you, and which one you feel more comfortable working with.

Facebook is the biggest platform as we speak, It does not mean is going to work for the majority of people.
