   I was looking to develop a site on Pinterest. Wanted to know if an API exists.
   
   What I've found is a unofficial API, but never sure if that works.

   No. See the official word at https://support.pinterest.com/entries/21151603-i-m-a-developer-does-pinterest-have-a-public-api and sign up to be notified as soon as (and if) a public API is released.
