Pingoat has been down for probably the last week, if not longer. The message I get is "We're currently doing system maintenance. Come back later." I tried pingomatic, but that times out on me, even if I just select a few services to ping. Rather then pinging services individually, is there any other reliable method that I can use for ping.
to my knowledge and repeated experience the last few weeks, all 3 major ping services pingomatic pingoat autopinger are all down - amazingly all 3 approximately the same period. the latter has no more hosting account, the first 2 are down for maintenance ( ping goat ) and unmaintained ( pingomatic ) as for me, I am still searching for an alternative since it looks more than all 3 are out of business for good. thus right now i have NO pings except Yahoo, G and Moreover ( MSN ). some of the RSS/blog directories send their RSS newsbot on their own regularly ... the others may run out of business if no pings sent to update their directories.
pingomatic is still working for SOME lucky ones, however it has a bug and many are out of pingomatic. pingomatic appears to be unmaintained since 2 or so years - about the time when the bug started to occur. pingomatic worked for me until several weeks ago - now its dead.
the use is simple: you ping ONE of such service and they ping ALL configured ( many dozen ) RSS/blog directories for you at once. they update all directories - new additions / old removals it saves enormously time you ping EACH RSS feed or blog each time you add a new item
Just to help you out guys, a couple of sites that are alternatives to Pingoat and Pingomatic: http://kping.com/ http://pingates.com/ http://blip.lco.net/SubmitForm.aspx
I use this service http://bloggers.com/ I usually only tick Google, Yahoo, Technorati , many others are useless, and just bring scraper bots
sleuth1 I heavily DISagree with ur point from the approx 50-100 RSS/blog directories many require registration and provide listings with high PR backlink i have MOST successfully used many others - some for traffic - most / all of them for PR ... A N D faster google indexing there is a definite difference if your new RSS / blog item appears in 5 or in 50 OTHER sites minutes after publishing ! that's my practical experience after many years of RSS publishing multiple feeds on high traffic site.
Good , sounds like you understand the process , i am always happy to be educated , I will read your tutorial in your signature , sounds like it requires a lot of sign ups similar to social media , is that correct , in other words no use pinging a service unless your blog is confirmed as ok , correct?
1. some RSS/blog directoreis accept ping without prior registration 2. others do require registration of the URL / RSS feed once registered pings are accepted without login 3. yes basically it might be comparable to social bm sites registration with name, pwd, email verification etc hence its a time consuming process for rainy days. once done however its rewarding. 4. if u do so have ALL RSS feeds ready for submission if u have several a few RSS directories even accept OPML that makes your future work easier 5. yahoo requires direct ping - NO ping services also Y may refer API use for ping. just read Y site explorer section in details to create your Y API's for various uses/pings. 6. always be sure to validate all before submitting RSS feeds blog pages OPML
