    Hi guys,
I've never really quite 'got' what pinging was or how it fits in with blogging. I've since read that pinging can bring in quite a bit of traffic and help make sure that your blog gets out there.

Can anyone give me any advice on this? Links would be appreciated although I'd like to keep this thread here so I can ask stupid questions!

    1. How do I go about pinging?
    2. How does one ping?
    3. Who should I ping?

    Muchos appreciatos my blogger friends.

I use WP and my URL is http://www.joysandsorrows.co.uk

http://pingoat.com/ pings many places in one go for you, saving you the time of doing each one at a time.

You can bookmark it once you have used it once so that just visiting it will ping all over again for you after a new post on your blog/s

Yeah, WP does have that feature but I'm not exactly sure how to implement it. It's an automatic feature where you just have to put the 'ping' address in but how do I find useful ping addresses? How do I know if it's working?

Go to your WP control panel, and select Options >> Writing and look at the bottom for a box called Update Services. WP automatically includes http://rpc.pingomatic.com/ in there, which basically covers most of the major update services. Read more about this here...
