everyone who is watching this message must have heard a lot about blogs, but have never been able to do it in the way others tell about blogging.

I need to know one thing.

How can we get our messages / blogs to be seen on many websites ?
I have used the pinging services from pingomatic.com, but seems like there is nothing that works.

    Anyone having any idea ??

    regards
    dhaliwal

Displaying your latest entry here would be a great place to start. Check your user profile in User CP http://forums.digitalpoint.com/usercp.php and add your blog's RSS feed in there. Then on every one of your posts here you will have a link to your blog. For me DP is my 2nd most popular referer (excluding search engines)

You can also make comments on related blogs (good comments sharing insight and knowledge) and it will get your blog or blogger profile spidered as well. The more good neighborhoods that your blog gets spidered from, the better your rankings are likely to be.

There are also various blog directories that you can submit to as well :)
    Cheers.

Sitetutor's suggestion is a good one. Also, posting on forums with content similar to your blogs and having your blog URL as a signature will also help get the word out about your site.

The RSS feed thing here only works on a couple of blogging tools though, don't know why but it's never accepted my custom feed even though it's valid and as far as I'm aware no different in syntax to the WordPress one.

Sadly, a lot of (maybe most) blogs automatically add the "nofollow" tag to comments and trackbacks, so presumably this won't work on those. It will get you some exposure, of course, but just not to the search engines.

I got lucky and my blog is linked in NewsNow which basically guarantees me 2000+ hits per blog.

It can help you indirectly since many websurfers do read blog comments. When you go on a blog and comment on a post that appeals to you, chances are that others will be interested as well and will want to find out what people say about it. If you have a good title in your blog comment signature, they are likely to visit you as well and who knows, anything cool and unique that you come up with will be linked to by those who have sites and consider your blog a good resource to share. Those are usually the most powerful links you can get. I would always keep the seo part in mind but not exclude good advertising opportunities because they don't benefit seo directly. I still believe that the most effective seo is indirect seo.

Forums do help as well of course, both forums about blogging and forums about the subject matter of your blog

    Correct!
I thought it was well known, I guess I was wrong.
It is fairly easy to have your site accepted and I recommend it to any and everyone. As I said before it's a traffic magnet.

    I absolutely agree.

I was just pointing out that, from an SEO standpoint, many/most blogs aren't helpful. I should have been more specific in my post.

To make a blog sucessful, write a blog that is worthwhile.

There are millions of blogs, and unless you write good, there won't be any readers who would even read it, leave alone link it. if the blog is good you don;t even need any marketing or promotion. people will automatically link to you and SEO will be purely organic.

If you are looking at a pure SEOed Blog, without thinking of loyal reader, who will never click ur ads, but give u loads of Links.... then a blog is not ur cup of tea. Build Adsense sites instead..

Blog readers are bad adsense clickers, only they love to link to good articles or posts which might later bring u SE traffic which is great for adsense..

    Hope it was clear.

My answer to your question is, "just write well."
All the effort of directory submissions and link building efforts will yield better results if u make websites.

For blogging writing well, writing witty, writing original is the key.

    And leave good comments.
Read a few blogs very regularly.
    they might link to you.
Take part in events and carnivals.
    Take part in Memes
