Pinging Non-Blog Sites

Say I've added some new links to a page. This page is already indexed, but I'd like Google to discover these links asap. Will "pinging" the site (using a tool like, say, Ping-o-Matic!) speed up the process? Or is pinging strictly for blogs/RSS based sites?

Pinging needs an rss feed - doesn't have to be a blog, but does need to have a feed.

Better to social bookmark that website and ping links from social bookmarking sites. Pinging is for every type of website, but with blogs you can also ping RSS of a blog when new content is published to quickly index it.

Have you tried blog blaster? it's a great tool for pinging sites and links.

I ping my sites about once every two months and none of them are blogs. Pinging isn't just for blogs, though.
