Pinging a Website?

Hey Guys,

I know you are supposed to ping your blog when you update it to get search engines to recognize it, but is that the same with a website. I own an online gift shop at http://www.nnforyou.com and I just separated all the pictures on my site to text for SEO. Should I ping my site, or is pinging just for blogs???

Pinging your site isn't really necessary, but it'll help a lot if you want to notify SEs about the changes in your site. What ping site do you use? I use pingomatic.

 

You can also ping you site. It's the same thing with blog.

 

You can ping a website, but only do it when content is added (not adding a picture or two). I like pingler.com

 

you can ping it when you are adding new page or content.

 

I think you should use sitemap, it is the way to inform google about the newly added pages which are available for crawling.

 

There are many pinging service available on the net free of charge and there is no harm in taking their services after you have updated your web site content.

I have been using Ping-O-matic very successfully since last many months. Pinging helps in informing, not only google, but several other SE's as well!

Using of technorati.com is also a good method to ping ur site when u have added new content.

But for new pages, u have to use RSS and promote the RSS using any of the feed burners.
