I was wondering if I should bother making alt text for my pictures on my site. Do search engines like google pick up on stuff like that? How else can I optimise my site (activesleep.com - in my sig) for search engines? Also, my site shows up on google but only the index page does. I only have the meta stuff on the index page atm. Is that why only the index shows on google? (I thought it wasn't meta at all). Why else could only the index be showing? Thanks, Dom
"Why else could only the index be showing?" your site is still new give it some time google dose not trust your site right away
Dominicc2003, Alt text is a very large part of on page SEO. I would definately recommend tagging them with short, content related tags.
too many ads that turns me off. try to keep ads to a minimum but smart placement will bring in more money
I doubt that the weight alt attributes give will make or break your site's rankings, but you should use them for other reasons. People who use screen readers, for example, will be able to get an idea of what your images are about.
