Hey all.. I've only been running adsense through the summer months (started in late April). It's been growing well, double each month yada yada. Curious as to what to expect in the Fall? Any vetrans out there that have over a year's experience..? All things equal, are there better months than others?
Depends on the demographic of your visitors. Some sites see a decrease in traffic over the summer because their visitors go away on vacation, while other sites see a rise because many of their visitors are students who have more spare time during the summer break. Also, advertisers may change their bids during or after the summer period, depending on their products. Cryo.
Some months are definitely better than others but what to expect in a new season depends on your niche... Looking at the graph of our adsense earnings over the last couple of years it tends to peak in November & January (Christmas shopping & New Years good intentions respectively) and drops off from Easter to hit a low in July or August... Our main adsense site is about crafts & craft supplies and people don't surf for craft stuff much in the summer. The site has been online since '97 & traffic has always ebbed & flowed on a seasonal basis. Other sites have their peak traffic at other times of the year - the motorcycle clothing site I help with gets the bulk of it's traffic in the spring.
depends on your niche, if you have a video game site then your traffic might decrease since all the kids are going back to school, same goes if you have a vacation site, if you have shopping related site then things should pick up as it gets cooler. My retail business is always dead in the summer months and picks up mid september and does well all the way into January.
I think most sites in general will see a ris rather than a fall simply because a lot more people use the internet once the summer is over and life gets back to normal.
Usually rates pick up across the board for all types of advertising and publishers should make more in the Fall than they do the previous seasons. It's always been the case that Fall nearly makes what Summer and Spring combine for me, because Fall (especially the last two months) is usually when ad execs dump all those ad money they were stingy with the rest of the year or lose their budget for next year.
more people are indoors in the fall and winter, leading to more computer usage, its cold, people dont want to be out!
It definitely depends on your niche, but in my experience most product-related sites see a pick up in the months leading up to Christmas. Advertisers know people are shopping then and often are willing to pay more per click.
If you're not making more money in the fall than any time of the year, you're not doing something right. It's as simple as that.
