Hi there I run an envriomental / alternative energy site... if I can post a url let me know and I'll do so... basically its' a blog some stories we link to some we write... but the range is very wide from alternative energy to hybrid cars to.. here is a list of latest titles just so you get an idea New Evidence for Evolutionary “Bursts†Adaptive Cruise Control (AAC) Eliminates Traffic Jams Happy Thanksgiving: Free Range Turkey and Organic Farming U.S. and Canada Collaborate on “Drift Card†Project for Spartina Control Explaining Out of body Experiences The Journey Towards a Paperless Society Katrina may have stabilized coastal wetlands Infinity MPG: Art Haines’ Solar DIY Car Kit .... so the topics vary quite a bit... it's been online since april and really the last 3 months I've been working on it a lot harder... I hired some writers because I"m not a writer myself... the blog is making about $10 a day in adsense... traffic is about 200-300 uniq a day... I'm stillr relying on big sites like digg and fark to bring in big traffic every few weeks... I'm getting some hits from serps but not much I'm not sure by this time how much I should be getting... I guess what I'm asking is how do I go about improving serp traffic... how do I pick just a few keywords for a site that has a wider range of topics... do I have narrow down my topics we write about? thank you for your help... let me know if I can post my url
Yes, please post your URL, it really helps us "zero in" on what the best methods would be Thanks for asking, though Jonathan
try to look for keywords/keyphrases that are used a lot in your site but have fewer sponsored results when you search for them in the SEs This means there is usually less competition and you can reach the first page easier. Also look for keywords that do have a decent amount of searches. You can use the keyword suggestion tool at www.digitalpoint.com to help you.
