Physical product vs e-product

I am right now planning for my next site., just wonder will e-product easy to promote rather than physical product? Any comments?

For myself, I think physical product will be easy to sell rather than e-product, as long as your product carried good and high quality, then you should be able to sell it. E-product required branding as you need to be someone who is good in some area before you even can get your first customer.

    What do you think?

    Hi,
If I were you I would invest in an e-product.
The reason is that there will be bug. If you host that product you can fix it so much faster.
Also, you don't have to worry about scratched medias. Just have somebody download your software or use a hosted version.
I think the hosted version + a monthly fee is the best thing.

    Good luck

In my opinion, tangible product is easier to sell than intangible product & service. It takes more time and effort to build enough trust for people to buy your e-product service. Branding is definitely one of the key factors in the game.. Focus and try different ways to get yourself out there.

Physical products are considered much more valuable than digital "e" products. A $7 eBook could be turned into a $47 physical product "home study course". A set of videos that you are giving away for free could be sold on a DVD for $15.

E-products are easy to track, update, and deliver but physical products carry a much higher value. Try both, see which one makes you more.

E-product is definitely the way to go. It's so much easier to do promotions, set up affiliates for your product, and most importantly get it to your consumer.

People live in an age of immediacy, and they don't want to sit and wait for something to arrive if it's not necessary.

E-products are my personal preference. Physical products carry more value and can be sold for more, but the advantages stop there.

E-products are MUCH easier to create, there are no associated production costs like with physical products so when you make a sale it is pure profit, and as an earlier poster mentioned, it is easier to satisfy customers' desire for instant gratification with an e-product. Nothing will make you money faster than a killer sales page promoting a product that a customer can download onto his desktop instantly.

There is money to be made in both arenas, but for someone just getting started, I think e-products are the fastest way to start banking your first money online.

Both are nice to do actually.. I do the both of them, and I have got to say that e-product (in my case it's MP3 music files) work better. Bigger turnover, thats what basically does it for me..

I don't think it really matters. I sell both. Both are going to require that you provide good customer service. I have found that actually people receiving an e-product are far more demanding. They are always suspect of the business you are running, so the minute they think they got screwed (even if they didn't) they'll let you know. On tangible products you mail, they have the product in their hands. They seem to take more responsibility if they purchased a product that they really didn't need or want. In both, I try to be very transparent and tell them exactly what they are getting, so please don't think i'm a shady seller. :)

I would always prefer to sell a physical good as the reputation of it usually builds a synergistic relationship with its online sales. We all know exercise equipment can be big ticket/big volume sales, so selling it online will work because people offline are accustomed to it. Granted some things are purely digital, but if at all possible I would like to push a product/service that exists outside the internet for added benefit.

It actually boils down to your website copy or video information. Most of the time it comes down to good marketing and not the product that will determine if you will be successful online. Whether or not it is physical or downloadable usually isn't a factor. It's the product and what the buyers want.
