if ur serious, get a dedicated at layeredtech or softlayer. if u dont expect that much traffic, get a vps from servint (they're a bit stingy on the bandwidth)

anyone who tries to sell u shared hosting for ur proxy (assuming you're serious about running it), run as fast as can from them!

Most monetize with AdSense on the landing page, and then adbrite or a few other ways on the proxied pages.

As long as you keep making new proxies once your old ones get banned, and you get enough traffic, then yes, the returns can easily be over 89. However, it's the summer now so profits tend to drop for proxies.

(if you don't have much money to "play" with, then don't risk jumping into proxies right now)

would 125 GB be enough for a proxy?(bandwidth)

For me, bandwith isn't a problem, its CPU and Memory usage. I'm wondering if any other PHProxy users have this issue? Or if its due to un-optimised settings on my server?

Most likely unoptimised settings. If you have cPanel, it's a piece of cake to recompile Apache with just the modules you need. Also, make sure you turn off all zlib/gzip compression because I found that eats into the CPU (noticeably). You wanna tweak your httpd.conf file (apache's config file)...turn the keepalive timeout to 1-3 seconds max, bump up the maxclients (if you have enough RAM), and there's a few other tweaks but I'm too tired to recall right now. My current server is a dual core opteron w/ 1GB RAM, but I'm gonna need to bump up the RAM because it's really getting worked over. Also, schedule your stats software to run during your server's offpeak ours, because that eats up a ton of memory.

A Celeron or Pentium D cannot handle over 10 proxies using up just 50 gb a month

A Opteron HE 2216(8 cores) can handle 40-50 proxies easily but you cant get it for cheap.

More procesor = Better than cores
