Phplinkdirectory template design contest worth of 1600$!!!

Hello there and welcome to this phpld template contest.
We have decided that My Green Corner directory needs a new face, a neater design, to please our client expectations and demands.
My Green Corner, in collaboration with our partners, is starting this new contest with prizes of a total worth of over 1600$.
You have time until 1 January, 2007, to make a template for My Green Corner Directory to use.
The main points that are to be taken in consideration are the following:
your templates must be unique, designed especially for this contest, for My Green Corner, they must follow our demands explained in detail on our page, and you must agree to give us all the rights of the template you subscribe.
You will register on our contact us page, and you may post a print screen of your finished work on his thread, if you like. All the print screens of the templates will be available on our competition page. The contest will end on 1 January. Between 1 January and 5 January you can vote which template is the best on this thread, in the following manner:
1. First prize template
2. Second prize template
3. Third prize template
It will be kind of you no to vote your own work.
On 7 January we will post the winners’ name here and on the competition page, and we will give the prizes.

I am interested in this, but I have few questions/suggestions
1. Do I need to give yo full rights to template I make before voting or just in case if I win?
2. Voting for winner is not really a good option. For example I can refer all my friends to vote for me and so can everybody. If you are looking for template for your directory it makes sense that you decide which one is the best.

 

From the TOS:

So I figure that any entry becomes the full and exclusive property of My Green Corner ... correct?

I belive that this is the right price for participating to a contest where me and our parteners invest over 1000$. Tos are also asking to participate people with good intentions, that desire to make a difference and that love taking a challenge. Anyway, all the templates will be available for freee download after the contest is over on My Green Corner.

The important thing here is that only the participants can vote. I decided to allow voting: it is only 5% from the mark. I belive in fair play and hope that things are not going to end up in the situation you described above.

i say you make your template and they should SUPPLY a db for link purposes etc... and you host it on your own webspace. then they can judge by browsing the designs.

Anyway, I spoke to several other masters for sponsoring our contest. The following accepted: chmlscrunoc.net, killdirectory.com, truelinkdirectory.com. I'll make the changes to the prizes in the morning, and I spend some time the nest days, for convincing more webmasters to sponsor us. Nite...

What anon said is this and I agree:

1. If I need to enter contest with coded template, I will install it on some test installation on my hosting with sample database of links(some sql dump for example)
2. You will get template my only if I win. If I don't template will be still mine.

I think this is much more fair and that is the only way I would enter this contest.

Usually for design contests people do not even give psd with full rights but only preview as jpg. Coding design into html and css is already too much and I don't want to speak about coding it for phpld 3.06.

 

You want us to submit a phpld template, and your going to get exclusive rights to it even if we don't win? That doesn't make any sense... please explain what "I" the designer is getting out of that?

 

I can very well design the template, but cannot code it...will it work?

 

The contest rules are simple. We give the money, so we get to make the rules. If you want to participate to our contest, that would be great, but if not, that is you choise. We don't like this ideea for 2 reasons:
1. It is violationg our tos: The temlpate has to be not published on web before.
2. We can not see the code (or this will be a serious effort comning from us, impossible to test, so on).
In the following posts, please do not question the contests tos, because they will not change.

Raghav, it must be a full design code, that we can use on our directory, after the contest is over.

 

if its like that ..can i team up with someother DP member (coder ) for this contest ?...will it be against any rule?

 

Of course not. You can even pay somebody to code the template for you, or you can find some teammates and split the money, if you win. I there is only a participant, he will autmomatically win first prize.

I have talked with David (the phpld owner) and he agreed to add a copy of phpLD 3.10 as a prize, if minimum 5 templates will participate to the contest. Nicobyte directory also agreed to support us.
I get many questions, one of the is whether 1000$ is a cash prize. To answer all, yes, the first prize is 1000$ cash.

How about I tell you to learn how to TYPE english first, prior to telling someone to speak english, especially when what was typed was a perfectly understandable and coherent sentence.

Nobody has to know the URLs of the entrants. Thus nobdy else will see each others work.

STOP trying to rip people off with your bullsh*t for tos.
You DONT need a template on hand and in your grasps to review it.

What do you need code for? If the template works flawlessy, it works flawlessly, period!
