Phplink posting

I am looking to purchase Phplink and I want to know, can it do the following.
If I have clients name's and address's in the directory, and I put them in myself. Is there a system that the clients can click on a link in the ad to update their information. If there is will they need to know a password to do it, and how can you stop spammers changing details. I assume it would be by an e mail confermation, does Phplink do this.
