PHPLD vs IndexU

Discussion in 'Directories' started by Guardian, Jan 9, 2007.

I have never used phpld but have several sites using IndexU from nicecoder.

I am thinking of switching over to phpld but would like your comments before I do. What is your experience using either directory software and which do you think is actually the better software? Which software is actually better for both users as well as search engines and admins.

I saw indexu before and I know it is very good and powerful script. I never used it though so can't say anything about user experience.

Maybe it could be price that could be reason, cause for 500 bucks you can get 7 + Phld directories with no footer link and 20+ Licenses with footer link. Plus its more popular here on forums.

You script looks nice just was browsing your site, but after looking at price lost my interest cause simply any user starting a directory would probably not like to pay 100 Bucks for one script unless he can use it more than on 1 site.

Its probably price + features that decide which script will be popular.

I meant the site code is same.. only the database is unique. What I wanted to sell is phpld based site (database) sell more than indexU. I didn't mean database literally.

I would never switch away from phpLD. I've tried site sift's and it's nice, but I think it's easier to design for phpLD (but maybe that's because I'm more familiar with it).

I see, the price could be the main reason.
But if you see more further you'll see that why our script cost more.

Sir, normal users/buyers do not have luxury to buy a 500 $ unlimited license for a script , with wich they can buy nice image hosting scripts for the same and much more. Most tend to go for free stuff and cheap stuff, cause if they do not like it or need to sell their site they can sell it at cheaper rate. Suppose i were to sell a site with your script running on it with 100 bucks on script, and the directory was not picking up or anygood i would be stuck with starting its bidding at 100$ , which is a turnoff for some.

Features like i said is something one can live with but price ....., e.g would you buy a good running car that can do and perform well for say 4K only or would you buy a car with MP3 Player,DVD players , hi-fi sound system, power windows, doors etc etc and other features for 40 K ? Even if that care is marketed well and stuff a normal user cannot simply afford it, maybe big fat fishes can.

    Regards

75 for phpld with copyright removal and 100 for indexu is not very big difference. For user that think long term when starting directory, even one function more can worth 25$ difference if it is saving even 5 minutes of work everyday.

If you want to buy script and sell directory after few weeks this is not good option for you, but for serious directory owners who invest lot of money and consider that real business few $$ difference means nothing.

Every type of users have their own favorite product and that is the way it should be.

I've actually been interested to see threads like this over the last week or so... on all of them its some directory script vs phpLD. I think its plain to see from a reputation and usability view that phpLD is probably the best directory script out there as everyone seems to be comparing every other avaliable script to it!

I think you can not compare directory (indexu, phpld, esyndicate) script in a single view. If you just need a web directory, phpld may the most popular choice in this forum, in fact the other script could do the same but with a higher price.

But if your project more than just a general directory, you may see a different point and will seek the alternative. Perhaps I'm wrong because I never try phpld before, but that is what i saw so far here.

I'm sorry if i'm wrong, but this is my personal opinion as a user of script directory, not as the developer.
As a user I love to see the other directory scripts just like you.
