    I paid didn't I

Yes please, I'd be interested where this comes in, I can give you a bit of a start on this, the rule of fair use is not catered for in this case scenario.

The onus of culpability rests with you David as provider of the facility.

I didn't say to the contrary, what I pointed out was whether YOU as a directory script owner made people aware of it instead of appearing to dangle the carrot to entice people to use your script mods without warning of the potential consequences, you cleary didn't as you posted earlier a thankyou to me.

Seeing as you are, or claim to be doing that in future there's no issue?

Kevin, since you are bringing up items more related to your relationship with phpLD rather than the mod (subject of this thread) I have sent a pm to you. You are bringing up some very good ideas about intellectual property that users should be aware of but certainly it is not up to me to tell my users what they can or cannot put on their site. Some people use phpLD for personal use, for example, in which case it would not be a problem to save information.

And actually this leads to a VERY COOL IDEA :)
This mod would be great as a means of tracking search results for a key phrase over a period of time on google, since the results are imported in order by rank. :) Hmmm...

David, let me get this out of the way please. (This is about your google/dmoz 'mod', nothing more, a small comment to the other was made, thats it.)

The premise of culpability and due diligence come into play with mods like the one we debate here, (debate not argue).

From where I see it the use of this mod could have an effect on users who use it. That is the only point I was making. I was not disrespecting either you, phpLD or the module; I merely aired concern.

You are in a position of influence in your phpLD community, and this influence it is respectfully suggested should be put to the good. You replied well in the first instance saying you would take these views on board, but when invited to qualify your comments on Intillectual Property you appear to have sidetracked to a personal level.

I for one am not interested in this being personal, I am more interested in learning from you, after all you are the 'Industry Leader'.

You said there were changes in copyright law, infering that your mod was covered by these, I asked you to qualify them, you haven't as yet.

However, you have made it clear that you feel it is to a degree the users responsibility to show diligence, so who am I to argue your stance.

I wish you well with the mod, I like it, not enough to use it as it duplicates content, nevertheless it does show that directory scripts are evolving which can never be a bad thing. :)

    Take care.
