SOmetimes the visual confrimation does not work because your host does not provide GD support. You might start there. If they do offer it, then do a search at the phpLD forums. Like Minstrel said, it has been an issue before, and some have managed to fix it.

As far as paid version goes. The paid version is well worth the money. It has had a few bugs, but what makes it great is that you do not have to pay for upgrades, and most bugs are fixed in the upgrades.

I am doing a bit of BETA testing on 3.04 right now for David. So far, I love it!! It has a new installer that seems to run a bit smoother. All of the known bugs have been fixed, that I can see, and a couple of new features. A much better, and more accurate search function. Even the old blank sender in the email bug that has been around since v2 is now gone.

If you are considering an upgrade, and have waited for something better, this release is probably the best time to jump on it. I think it is expected to be released in the next couple of days.

This is a bug that is a result of the server not having GD with Free Type included in the PHP installation.

3.0 offers 2 choices for captcha, and I hae yet to have a user say they could not use captcha.

3.04 is almost ready and should be ready in a couple of days, and the main focus of 3.04 is to find and fix bugs. Admittedly, 3.03 with the new optional User Registration system had a few problems.

3.04 will be a LOT more stable.

Well i might try a different captcha.php file or some other verification system, cause seems like they made phpld2 buggy on purpose so people could spend money for their latest release but there are way better paid directories script than phpld.

We made phpLD free. It was free for over 1 year.
We went to a paid (but inexpensive) version to allow us to improve the script (including the captcha).
We have really done a lot since Feb 1.

Near the end of this year, 3.0 will likely become free.

First, I am a user/customer of phpLD - I am not a member of the development team and have no commercial or personal interest in phpLD. That said, what you have posted here is complete and utter BS.

In version 2, captcha is buggy, that's true. In version 3, it works fine, but that is in part because large portions of the code have been completely re-written in version 3 (one of the reasons for charging for the upgrade). Even in version 2, many people with the help of mods and fixes and font substitutions have been able to get captcha to work. If they can do it, and you can't, have you considered that the problem may be either you or your hosting?

And judging from your member name, I'm guessing that the hosting may be you too... that's not a ringing endorsement of your technical competence.

    w0w!... just w0w...

I can't help but laugh AT you and your response. Are you completely helpless?

I mean, how in the hell do you plan on running a directory if you have no ambition to resolve your problems? Oh that's right, you're probably the type of person whos mouth is still stuck on your mommy's nipple.

I've been at this script for a month and have had 'some' problems that were easily fix/handled and took no less that 10-20 minutes of my personal time.
Now that amounts to seeking + implementing + testing.

I very rarely 'ask' questions, as I feel it is my duty to seek out resolution, because in the end, it's 'me' who is running the directory, and I feel on a personal level, I owe it to those who entrust me with their submissions.

that's my .02 - take it or leave it.

    Rob

I must say that it is the users of phpLD that have made it what it is today.
People working together are much stronger, and this is the "secret" of phpLD. :)
