PHPLD 2.x vs 3.x Worth it?

Anyone using 3.x that can list a few new features that they feel make it worth the price?

Any new features you can't live without?

just bought v3 for a new project. So far the interface looks neater. The rewrite_mod is much less buggy. Can't really see any major "can't live without features as yet", but will give some feedback in a day or two.

    Unfortunatelly still no documentation.

To find out the big differences and if it is worth it to upgrade.
Not that I am too cheap, just cheap enough to stay with ver2 if not good valid reasons to update my directories.

I use 3.x on several sites. Ther are many many backend featires that make it worth the $25.

google sitemaps, edit template files from admin, ip banning, search, lots more. The newest version of 3.03 has registered user login. However, it is not fully functioning, and a fix for it is expected to be released any day with 3.04

if anyone is really interested, I would be happy to give access to a demo site, so you can poke around in the admin.

There are a number of things which have been redesigned and work better in version 3 than in version 2 so it's not just a question of new features - Boby (we really have to teach him the correct spelling of his name) has re-written quite a bit of the code.

It is most definitely worth the $25, IMO. Don't forget that also gives you access to all of the version 3 updates still to come.

What is meant by version 2 having mod rewrite issues?

I haven't experienced anything, not that I'm aware of anyway.

While I appreciate people who support the project by purchasing 3.0, I still think 2.0 is a great product. Feel free to test 2.0 to see if you like it first, and then purchase 3.0 when you feel ready.

    the exact features would be:
    1. Individual listing details page (more pages for Google to index)
    2. User login/edit their listings (this can be turned off via admin)
And a whole bunch of php fixes...

Those are all the changes i've exerienced while working with phpld v3

I didn't realise version 3 offered Individual listing details page functionality.

I'm off to buy it. I'm hoping upgrading from version 2 to 3 will go smoothly...

    If it goes smoothly!
Anyone else here put ver3 over ver 2 without any problems?
Or if problems, what were they?

Will be off to purchase myself shortly.

basically, V3 is a completely new script. It will replace almost everything, including the tpl files. So, any customizations you have made, will need redone.

Okay, read the features etc of ver3.
    Have a question:
It says that it is for one directory.
I am taking it means that I would have to buy a new copy for each directory I have?

    Make that two questions....lol
What if I sell a domain with ver3, does the new owner get updates?
And again, back to question one.

Thank you for a speedy and correct answer.

Yes, You are only allowed 1 copy per directory. As for the transfer, you would have to consult David.

The only feature I am really interested in is payment, (the rest works fine).

v2 does not really handle recurring payments very well.
Also it would be nice to charge a different amount, (or nothing), for different categories.
Some of my categories are full so I am happy to charge for them.

I have asked on their forum, (http://www.phplinkdirectory.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3025), but no one is replying.
Maybe a demo password would be great to have a look around.

I can get you inside ofr a demo. send me a PM if you want.

The re-occuring billing feature is not yet setup, although, it has been talked about a lot lately.

And there is not an option to charge for different categories.
