phpbb3 spam

I've just updated to the latest version of phpbb3, yet spam still gets through. Somehow they are getting past a captcha and creating spam in every section. Any ideas to combat this?

Ahh we all hate spams. Here is what you can do ...

    1. Install a anti-spam module
    2. Enable email activation for all new registration
    3. You can also configure that new member's first post will be under moderation and only after approval it will be shown on the forum.

There are other ways to make your site more secure as well. But I think the above methods can help you get rid of spam to a great extend.

    Best Regards,
    MM

I forgot to mention that email activation is enabled for new users.

I might have to try installing recaptcha again but the installation process looks complicated.

    Try this :
    http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=70&t=570929

Should work for you if they are bots not human. If someone is manually spamming your forum then use method 3 of my previous post.

    StopForumSpam integration >> all.

    I use this one:
    phpbb com/community/viewtopic.php?f=70&t=1352315

    With the username portion disabled.

recaptcha should prevent most of the spam bots or automated programs.

I wonder what you'd put forward to that guarantee. My biggest problem is really human spammers, at this point, and my MyBB forum already got one.
