phpBB vs SMF

Witch one is best of the two? phpBB or SMF? Witch one is most secure and witch one is most easy to alter design on?

i suggest and recommend SMF. more secure and easy to customize.

 

I use phpBB. Quite happy with it.

 

smf is good and easier to customise. I have used it before.

 

i get curious.. may i see your forum?

most forum i see is vbulletin and if not it is SMF.

phpBB3 is better than SMF.....

i used phpbb3 and found it is the best free bb software.

 

it isn't. The best free bb software is snitz (the warriorforum uses it) and you can download it for free. Pretty similar to vbulletin.

 

PHPBB3 is definitely better than SMF. PHPBB2 on the other hand, is too simple. If you're planning on using PHPBB3, then its definitely a better option.

phpbb is very customizable.

 

guys snitz is batter than phpBB3 and SMF but it's not so popular. Just chack out the warrior forum and you'll see how it is. It's very similar to vbulletin and you should try that!

 

I couldn't recommend Snitz for a new forum. I'm not bashing it--Snitz is indeed powerful, and about a feature-packed as phpBB2. But Snitz requiring ASP, added to the fact that no one uses it equates to few customizations/mods/themes and less support.

 

I go for phpBB.
