Say Bling I'll try to make it over to your board.
I really love your revenue Mod.

Yeah we got hacked on 2 of our phpBB sites....

I tried to change some of the text on the footer.
For example phpBB to php bb. It's still giving them credit but hackers aren't searching for forums with phpBB & when they start I'll change it again.

    Hello all,

I agree with this.... phpBB does suck

Im running Win98se/IE6 and it keeps freezing,etc...... It doesnt run well @ all when im logged in,i cant view threads,it lags, doesnt load,i have to keep closing my browser,etc...... Thier script sucks literally!!

(I think its a COOKIE HANDLING PROBLEM) When i log out,it works fine.........

They try and say its "MY COMPUTER" (Some of the members there) Well if its MY computer,WHY IS PHPBB THE ONLY ONE I HAVE ISSUES WITH?? :D

    Ah well..........

You have a cookie probem...Set the cookie properly and it won't be an issue.

Go to your admin config and change to

.yourdomain.com as the cookie and make sure the path is correct.

Don't blame the software for your inadequacy as a webmaster.

    I don't think he's a webmaster. I think he's just a forum member.

He's also running an 8 year old operating system:

    1. increase RAM
    2. consider upgrading to XP
    3. consider upgrading your computer
    4. do the following
    • manually log out of forum
    • delete any cookies for the forum domain
    • clear the internet cache for your browser
    • check to make sure that IE6 allows javascript -if necessary use "Custom" settings to accomplish this
    • if you are using anti-virus or firewall or antispyware software (and you should be) check all settings to make sure javascript isn't disabled
    • add the URL for the forum domain to "Trusted Sites" in your browser and firewall
    • log back into the forum and try again

That is almost certainly a cookie problem. You have a corrupted cookie.

Log out manually first. Then close the browser window for the site.
Then delete ALL cookies from that domain (there may be two or three named as www.domain.com, domain.com, etc.). Then navigate back to the site and login again.

Hmm,they must be sending out 'non-standard' cookies then that my OS doesnt understand completly (That sounds very possible) -- I wouldnt be surprised seeing its OPEN source and not done professionally.....

Thanx mate,it helps alot to try and understand whats going on (You think they would use standard cookie control, but i guess they dont)

Ah well......VBB rocks anyway (Always been my favorite)

I think it's the OS that "sucks", not the other way around. Holy out of date OS Batman! I would upgrade!

You keep repeating that because it's open source it's unprofessional. VB is OPEN SOURCE. Also what's unprofessional is your $50 computer. I could get a better OS out of Dodge Neon than Win98se. Complaining that phpbb sucks simply because you have oddball problems doesn't make phpbb unprofessional. While it's not my favorite forums it's far from being what you describe. It's easily a top 3 used forums software on the web. Try using Firefox (if it even installs on your go-kart computer) browser.

You can find everything you need at the phpBB web site. Here are a couple examples of phpBB based forums that look nothing like the stock set up:

I usually make the theme changes myself instead of going with a template. It's not that hard to replace the existing graphics and to edit the CSS file.

In my sig the democracy forums is my latest mybb site. I plan to do another few this month. I already installed now I just need to make theme changes.

Is there someone who could have a slightest idea what happened:
    http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?p=2668612#2668612
Even the phpbb support has no idea...
