Hi guys, I set up a new phpbb forum just before Xmas, we have a lot of heavy posters and have built up over 8000 posts since then. The site is at www.jackrussellclub.com and I would like some help / advice on getting it to a page one result on google for jack Russell forum and jack Russell club...

    - Your forum descriptions are not too descriptive. Maybe emphasize "Jack Russell Forum," "Jack Russell Club," or even just "Jack Russell" in them.
    - Get links to you, but beware of buying links. Google doesn't like that.
    - SEO is complicated, but understanding many of its concepts are simple. Look at Google's starter guide for more details.

    - header tags, XML sitemap, and rel="canonical" are just a few of the things you should look at. Consider using phpBB SEO, which does some of these (header tags MUST be done by style edits though).

Regardless, any forum software can be SEO-friendly. I've had very strong results with my friend's MyBB forum (I play around with it and such), which was only SEO-friendly only after I played around with it and installed Google SEO. But it's best to understand why phpBB SEO does what it does before you add it, so read the starter guide. It's excellent to read.
