PhpBB not keyword friendly in Google?

Can someone please explain me why this is shown for my forum on google search.... "The time now is Fri Dec 14, 2007 2:05 am All times are GMT + 5.5 Hours View unanswered posts · Mark all forums read ..."

Should'nt there be relevant keywords or at least some useful content from PhpBB rather than time & date. Anything related to the forum will be fine but not this, no one will click on the link which only has a description showing time & date.

Please help me get this sorted. How can I put a meaningful description?

PhpBB is not the friendliest forum software for SEO. You should try switching to SMF or vbulletin.

Add a meta description tag to your forum style, or use an advanced meta tag mod, I know they have one for bb3 so I'm assuming there is one for bb2 already

Okay, the meta tag was missing. I added it manually and hopefully this should solve the problem. Now waiting to see the changes in the SE. I will update this post on seeing the results, or else I will have to try something else.

Well, that did'nt seem to work. I still get the same description only with an updated date.

Does this happen with all PhPbb forums?

Any more ideas to solve this...?

Are you sure? It might take longer than a day depending what speed google is crawling your site

There is a phpBB seo program you can buy, maybe give that a try. Lie said maybe use vBulletin, but I wouldn't reccomend SMF.

If he doesn't want to pay for software, then SMF is the next best thing.

Yes, I waited for over a day. To be precise, over two days as I post this.

I did install an SEO mod a month back but that seems to have little effect. Plus, this description issue is since the day the site was on google.

Sorry, not looking at SMF as an alternate.

Hmm....this sounds stupid but is it possible to delist my site from google. May be delisting and relisting can get the google spider active on the content. You know like uninstalling and reinstalling. :p

Oh Okay! Sorry I did'nt check the cache. Just that the date in the description changed so I thought it's updated.

I'll just wait for the changes...

It may take several days/weeks in order to get the new title/description to show up, as the user stated above, check the cache and see the last time your site was updated ;)

Ok, the description for the PhpBB forum did not change even after the crawl. But I had created a single webpage which in turn links to the forum, so now that webpage shows on google with the description I put.

But the problem with PhpBB description remains. Still showing....."The time now is Fri Dec 19, 2007 7:43 am All times are GMT + 5.5 Hours View unanswered posts · Mark all forums read ..."

    P.S - Agent_Dweeb, I have the Able2Know SEO mod installed.
