Most of the posts here consist of VBulletin and PHPBB, so I though I would help make more people aware of the great, free forum that is SMF. It's one I use for my own forum, and Joomla also use it. I found it wayyyy better than PHPBB2, and a great free alternative to VBulletin. Its very user friendly. A great system I have used for a long time now. Link: http://www.simplemachines.org/
well SMF is very easy to use but it's annoying mostly time show error "sorry we re not unable to conect databast"
The database error is currently due to an issue with my hosts. It is not an issue with the forum itself
I have smf installed on my recipes website. The only downside is it's complicated template system. I had a tough time installing simple modifications on SMF.
As a forum user, and not a forum administrater, I like SMF very much too. It's much better than PHPBB2. Not quite as nice as vB, but considering that it's free, SMF is what I would use.
Yeah, the templating can be hard on any system though I find (although I have not yet used vB). I used phpBB for AGES before I found SMF. Moving over was an easy desicion to make. I've not looked into http://www.mybboard.net yet. I will have to take a peek later today
Hahaha. I actually had phpBB2 for ages, and was very pleased with it. A great supportive community. However, SMF had extra features which suited my needs. Have you experimented much with phpBB3? I am yet to try it out? Might be worth going back?
I really do not like SMF, MyBB is my favorite choice for free software and vBulletin is my favourite overall
