    My budget is tight. So i went for PhpBB3.
    So far I like what I have seen.

    May be when I make money and am able to afford to, i will go for VB.

    I think they both serve a purpose depends on what exactly you are looking for and what your prefer. I dont think there is a right and wrong answer to which one is better.

    You can make a comparison of software on the sites of the creators as there will always been people biased towards the software on the site where it is created. If you want better reasoning read the 9000+ topics on it which can be found here.

    The bottom of the page is a good start under the similar topics.

    I read somewhere that MyBB is an exact replica of Vbulletin.
    You can try it if you are obsessed with VB feautures.
