You do realise that people who make blind statements like that can never prove or provide information to backup their statements? :p

Stupid statements like that just get annoying.

vBulletin all the way. Easier to modify/customize, easier to install plugins and its a lot more safer than phpBB.

And phpBB isn't bad though. Use vB if you want to pay and use phpBB if you want something free. lol

I've used both and vBulletin seems better than phpBB. It's a lot less of a pain, easy to install mods, styles, administrate, moderate, plus it's more secure.
Sure vBulletin has its price, but if you take time time that you spend installing phpBB and the add-ons, it has already made your time and effort worth a lot more than a vB license!

vb3.7 rocks - and it's nearly GOLD. I've used phpbb, ipb over the years and vb has the best support/community and software imho. I've been running forums for 7 years, so should know something about it.

I'd go for vBulletin - even though you do have to pay it's less prone to hacking etc. If you are after a simple forum then try MyBB or PunBB.

I'm going to try out PHPBB3. Even if it has it's issues, it's open source, so worst case scenario if there are issues you can at least fix it yourself!

I keep hearing that vbulletin is more secure. Can someone back this up? because I'm seeing "my site got hacked" on vbulletin.com and phpbb.com.

You can take it to whatever "level" using either of the software. Please provide reason for your post so it makes you look less the fool.

I've posted in this thread twice for people using vbulletin to backup their statements and I see "phpbb in case you are just playing around." Looks like vbulletin has a lot of fanboys.
