PHP Sessions and Google

    Hi,

I wonder if anyone knows if the Googlebot can be assigned a session ID when it spiders a website.

The problem we are experiencing with our website is that we are indexed twice in their search results. Once for domainname.com/page.html and once for domainname.com/page.html?PHPSESSID=b74b76829e76a3282556f201...

Will Google penalise us for thinking we have 2 identical pages, just with different urls or not?

    Thank you for any advice

    Regards
    Gareth Irving

Not a penalty, but link juice dilution.

Either don't put the session ID's in the url's (use cookies instead) or don't require sessions.
