php search custom coded function stops working - developer away

I asked another forum member where I should post this - and he suggested this is the proper location.

Our Joomla 1.5.7 based website has a 'search' feature - which I understand is custom php code - but could be from a 'Jumi' plug-in (I don't know much about how it is set up) and a couple of days ago the search stopped working with any version of Internet Explorer. Prior to that it had worked fine. We know of no changes to the site. The search works with Mozilla Firefox.

We did not make any changes to the site - so perhaps a change was made on the server side by the hosting facility? If that is even something that could happen. Dunno.

I would not know who (or how) to ask if any change was made.

Our site is hosted through Websitewelcome on ThePlanet.com in Dallas, Tx.

In I/E when I move to the search page all is normal - I select a search drop down option and an 'Error on Page' icon appears at the bottom left of the page with:
    Line: 543
    Char: 3
Error: Object doesn't support this property or method
    Code: 0
URL: xxxx (shows the current page) option=com_jumi&fileid=10&Itemid=58

Our developer is away and I have next to no... -o.k. no experience whatsoever- with php so I am posting here looking for suggestions on what I might try to get the search working again. I have administrator access to the site.

Sorry if this is the wrong forum.

That error is actually a javascript error but I have no idea why it is happening. But even with the error any good search function will work even the the javascript doesn't. Can you give us the url for your site? What happens when you actually do a search?

Further information - it turns out that the search WILL work with Mozilla Firefox - but stopped working earlier this week with what seems all versions of M/S Internet Explorer (from version 6 to version 8). Last week it worked fine with I/E - all versions.

So it points to some change being made earlier this week. We dd not make any change - so maybe the hosting server site made some change?

Giving out the URL would not help as the problem only appears once you login to the site - as only then do you see the search option.

Hi - The problem turned out to be a corrupted Joomla template.

Our 'search' is back up and working.

    Thanks.
