php scripts business ?

Do you think it can be a profitable business to create and sale a php script ? like the ones you can find at : hotscripts.com for example.

I tried to sell my cashback script for 50$ but the customer told me the functionalities are too simple.
Do i have to try to improve my product and try to sell it again or what do you think ?

PHP script business is a great way to start i wrote a simple php script my competitor was selling it for 29 and i start selling for 19 i have not advertised it anywhere and got good sales from SE
so you may get good result
first think how much your script is wroth then set the price

Yes but do it different way.
For example,you can earn more by selling plugin to your script.

The problem with PHP scripts is that it is difficult to "protect" them or limit their functionality. Your best bet is to password protect access unless they are purchased.

 

The money seems to be in almost giving scripts away, and charging for custom templates / designs. Take a look around, there's quite a few people buying and selling templates for Wordpress, which is free, as well as numerous other free or "open source" applications, all over the Internet.

Another option is selling websites that are already setup and running your scripts.

I seem to do best when I include content with scripts, or with scripts that produce content.

 

I would self host your script and offer a membership site for people to use it.
