I have a few tutorials and a script available for download on my site. I currently have them listed in hotscripts and I've just started adding them to scriptsearch when I was distracted by a quest to find other sites at which to submit my script.

Somehow a search for 5 - 10 sites has returned 50 sites all with directories containing free scripts.

The point of this thread is two-fold. Firstly to share these sites with the community. Secondly to find the sites I've missed, as I inevitably will have.

With 50 links it is probably worth pulling out the most well-known/popular. I'm not going to do an extensive study but I will identify the names that I recognise:

    www.codejunction.com
    www.freshmeat.net/
    www.hotscripts.com
    www.phpbuilder.com
    www.phpfreaks.com
    www.phpground.com/
    www.scripts.com

    The other sites I've found:

    www.1phpscripts.com/
    www.1phpstreet.com/
    www.advancescripts.com/
    www.ahfb2000.com/php-scripts/index.php

I'm thinking I'll probably try and review some of these sites. Pagerank, alexa rank, number of categories, number of scripts, whether you need to register to submit scripts etc.

That will probably take some time though. I'll be working on that while submitting some scripts and tutorials I have on my blog so quite a lot of work to do really.

Until then I've re-ordered the sites based on pagerank:

    9 www.freshmeat.net/
    8 www.hotscripts.com
    7 www.advancescripts.com/
    7 www.bigwebmaster.com
    7 www.codewalkers.com/
    7 www.fatscripts.com
    7 www.needscripts.com
    7 www.phpbuilder.com
    7 www.phpfreaks.com
    7 www.resourceindex.com
    7 www.scriptaty.net/php-scripts/
    7 www.scripts.com
    7 www.scriptsearch.com
    6 www.codebeach.com/
    6 www.codejunction.com
    6 www.opensourcescripts.com
    6 www.phpdirectory.com/
    6 www.php-resource.de
    6 www.scriptdungeon.com
    6 www.scriptsbank.com
    6 www.webscriptsdirectory.com/PHP/
    5 www.1phpscripts.com/
    5 www.ahfb2000.com/php-scripts/index.php
    5 www.bytemycode.com/
    5 www.cgiscript-directory.com
    5 www.developertutorials.com/scripts/
    5 www.devscripts.com/PHP/index.html
    5 www.info4php.com/
    5 www.infoscripts.com/
    5 www.refdev.com/free_scripts/PHP/
    5 www.scriptjunction.com/
    5 www.thehotweb.net/
    5 www.webmasters-central.com/
    4 www.1phpstreet.com/
    4 www.beginnersphp.co.uk/script/
    4 www.demof.com/PHP/index.html
    4 www.ipdg3.com/
    4 www.phpmaniacs.com
    4 www.phpscriptsdirectory.com/
    4 www.phpsector.com/scripts.php
    4 www.simcoweb.com/
    4 www.telascripts.com/
    4 www.website-scripts.net/
    3 www.clickitscripts.com/
    3 www.globalnetpromotions.com/free--php--free--cgi--directory--links.htm
    2 www.phpground.com/
    0 www.apps.grassroots.org/web_links/48_PHP_Scripts.shtml
    0 www.gscripts.net/
    0 www.phpcrazy.com/scripts.html
    0 www.px.sklar.com/
    0 www.scriptkid.com/php/index.php

Most of the pagerank values are for the root domain while others are sub-directories. The sub-directories will probably be higher when the root domain is looked at.

    And another:

    http://www.sickscripts.com/ pr:4

    hot-php-scripts is pr:5

On a personal note I've only submitted my scripts and tutorials to hotscripts, advancescripts, fatscripts, scripts and scriptsearch. This isn't because I don't think the other sites are valuable, just that I haven't yet had the time.

I'm getting about 12 uniques a day from hotscripts and about half that from scripts and then significantly less from the other sites. This is slightly biased though as I have submitted about twice as many scripts and tutorials to hotscripts as the other sites.

Direct traffic is nice but ideally I'm also looking for some links. Many of these sites use redirects to obscure urls though. From the sites I've submitted to so far I've received direct links only from scriptsearch. That's only from hotscripts, advancescripts, fatscripts, scripts and scriptsearch though. Hopefully some of the others will be more supportive.

I've also looked into bigwebmaster and found the submit process to be overly complicated (a screenshot is required) and if you don't want to pay they claim it can take several months for your listing to be approved.

codewalkers isn't really a script directory, the code is uploaded and stored on their server so there is no link (redirected or otherwise) back to the authors site.

    Found another:

    http://www.php-hub.com/ pr:5

The script directory doesn't look to be very well organised but if you have a article/tutorial you'll have better luck and it is probably worth a look.

    Just found www.jcay.com (pr:5)

Before you submit I would check to ensure that you are not already listed. I may have just forgotten about the site but I'm fairly sure I've visited the site for the first time today and already they have a handful of my scripts listed.

I'm assuming they are fetching listings from other sites to populate their database.

    There is also www.planetsourcecode.com/ (pr:5)

All code is uploaded so if you are working on a project which will be frequently updated this might not be the place to post it.
