Hey everyone. I've put a proxy on my webhost (I basically want to view english sites when out of the UK (for instance BBC iPlayer) I've used proxy's before and have found that they can be unreliable so I've decided to make my own. I've launched it on my site and it works...kind of...It's now saying that I'm in America (I guess where my host is from.) So basically my question is this: are there settings I can change that will make it look like I am still in the UK, or do I have to host it with a .co.uk host? The legal bit...I live in the UK and pay my television license, but I work abroad for months at a time and miss english telly. lol. Cheers for reading and thanks in advance for any help you can give!!
Thanks for your quick response. If I do that tho, aren't I just using another proxy server, so why wouldn't I just use that proxy direct? I may be wrong because I don't know enough about proxies but just think using another proxy to help my proxy wrong from the UK seems pointless??!! Cheers
I meant, why not forget using/creating your own proxy just use CURL and loop through an array of random UK proxies, making the referer as the site your visiting. That way the site, would assume its a different visitor and its visiting the site directally.
ah I see..lol! Cheers! That's an option I suppose, I just find that too many uk proxies are unreliable which is why I was more looking to set up my own. But I've not gone done the route of cURL yet
