Last year I had an idea for a Reality TV Stock Exchange. I put about $1,500 into developing the back-end, but unfortunately it never actually worked properly. I have hired freelance workers a lot in the past, and this is the first time a project has fallen flat. My strength is in promoting a website, gaining members and building traffic. I would like to partner with a strong PHP programmer to fix some problems in the trading script at my site ( RTVSE.com ) The biggest problem is that trading works on a cron that runs every minute rather than trading in real time. The system can also leave one person with shares for sale at $1.00, and not sell them to somebody else that is offering $1.05. Sign-up and the admin panel work perfectly already, it is just the trading script that needs a lot of work. If you like the concept and can see yourself having fun creating the code to build a community with this website, I would like to hear from you. Anyhow, have a look. I have no active programs right now, but if anybody actually has an interest in getting involved, I will add some shows so that you can kick it around a bit. I have not tested it, but the system was supposed to be designed to allow me to give individual members admin privileges for specific Reality TV shows. This would allow us to let a fan group for any show go in and update who was eliminated from any given show. It's a neat concept, I just can not justify spending more money without any guarantee that it will work and actually make a profit. Anybody think they could have some fun with this? Thanks, Derek
Just thought I should mention this... I designed the website initially to allow people to buy and sell shares of reality TV show contestants, with dividends being paid each time a contestant is eliminated, thus preventing the system from losing funds over time. This same system could be used as is for sports and elections. The potential is fantastic. Perhaps a forum and chat would be good additions. Thanks again, I hope that somebody likes the idea enough to help make it a reality.
