Php Login

Hey

Im making a site similar to http://www.racekites.com and I'm wondering about a login script for PHP...should I use sessions or normal cookies?

Well, a login kinda implies a session, doesn't it?

i prefer sessions!

 

you can use both and delete both when you make logout
probably set the cookies expire time 5-10 minutes

that will prevent any login related problem

 

If your site will have a forum associated with it (as the example you provided does) then I'd suggest looking into just using the SMF (Simple Machines Forum) boards and incorporating the forum's member/login functions for the rest of your site.

It allows you to just paste a small piece of code onto your site's non-forum pages and have a fully functional membership system for your entire site. You can even display different content on each page depending on if the visitor is logged in or not.

I've used this system myself before and it's a quick, free and easy way to avoid reinventing the wheel.
