    Yes it is very useful to have experience on PHP/MySQL becoz if you know these, you can get practically any kind of web application working quickly. And its a need of every webmaster now a days. But the important thing is that, in order to master it. You need to have a bit of programming background or you may face difficulty in beginning ;)
