PHP coders will be happy to see that Oracle is making a deal to work with Zend on integrating PHP. http://news.zdnet.com/2100-9593_22-5705448.html?tag=zdnn.alert quote: Database giant Oracle is expected to announce on Monday a partnership to make it easier for businesses to create custom applications for its products using PHP tools from a company called Zend Technologies. PHP is an open-source scripting language used to build Web pages. The upped commitment to PHP from Oracle is the latest of several moves by large software vendors, including IBM, Sun Microsystems and Microsoft, to capitalize on the growing popularity of scripting, or "dynamic" languages.
So long as it remains open source and free, I have no complaints. I think it will force them to address certain issues that PHP has. Thanks AC!
The rate at which PHP is growing it threatens to dwarf other scripting languages like ASP . One primary reason is - it is open source , people do like things free and open ! so, as palespyder put it , till it remains open source - sky is the limit for PHP !
