I am looking to use a PHP programmer for quite alot of work, but i have had alot of different quotes. I think that the ones that are charging to low would not be good enough as i believe in the saying that you get what you pay for.

My question is what is the average price a PHP programmer will charge by the hour?

It is very hard to say, I have had quotes about US$20/hr from Indian companies to US$100/hr from European companies. Also it depends on whether you get from freelancers which are cheaper but no guarantee on quality (some are fantastic, don't get me wrong) or from professional programming companies.

I charge $50 an hour for PHP/MySQL work. I think it is fair enough.

I also deal with people I personally meet.

    Peace,
