In the age of web 2.0, PHP programmers need to use framework to standardize thier code - automate Ajax - built in ACL - mimics Ruby On Rails I'm using both but just picking up Symfony just weeks ago. Just finished the Askeet tutorial up to day 20 and I have running Blog in my machine using Symfony. The drawback of using Symfony is, they at least need PHP 5.0. So, any frameworkers here wants to share thier experience ?
I've been looking into frameworks, specifically Ruby on Rails, but also CakePHP, and I can't seem to understand them. Perhaps I just haven't tried hard enough, but I think that after learning a language such as Ruby or PHP, learning a framework takes about the same amount of time. Frameworks are fantastic if you can pick them up quickly, but if you like to know exactly what a framework is doing, I think they can be very time-consuming.
