To me graph seems to be false.
For new Projects, graph says that Ruby is now mostly used language. How many of us have started new projects on Ruby? :). Also, many RoR forums are using PHP forum softwares like PHPBB, PunBB etc.

I don't know how accurate the graph is, but seems the trends is picking up.

I agree that RoR is getting famous, but it will take years for Ruby to eat PHP :D

i think the second graph is false too. there is no way that there are that many ruby projects compared to PHP.
    PHP is the best!

Since when has lines of code been a measure of anything worthwhile...?

Anyone can write reams of code, it's making it worthwhile code that counts. And isn't Ruby less verbose than PHP anyway?

the graph is misleading because number of lines of code does not acurately refelect the popularity of a language. You can do many things in ruby in a single line of code which take 4-5 line of code in PHP

Ruby was ahead of its time. I feel it doesn't have a chance of catching up to PHP but ASP.NET could definitely catch up and topple PHP (yah... thats right I'm a little biased, hehe) Now that everythings is free thanks to Microsoft. PHP is too strong of a language for Ruby to become more popular than it definitely has it's good points and has some amazingly scalable things that PHP never will have.
