PHP Directory Help - Very Minor

I am building a niche directory (or trying to) but having all sorts of problems. I am hopless at this and cant even make "boxes". I thought i could learn, but it appears that i cant (LOL)

I want to place an adsense ad, i can do all the google part and insert the codes etc, but it has to go in a "container" and i just cant do the code. I need someone to look at my site, i can tell them exactly what i want and where i want it, they just need to make the code and i can then insert my google code.

I was told its something like this

But 3 days of trying and putting back the original template and im no further advanced.

I would really appreciate any assistance. Please pm if you can spare the time to assist me and i will advise my site url and what im after.

The url is www.security-alarm.com.au and as you can see, im just starting building content etc.

What i want is an adsense tower on the bottom left hand side under the Live Statistics Box. I also wanted the little google text ads, where its just 4-5 hyperlinks, word only, under the orange menu bar, in the centre of the page.

It would be great if someone could make the container code and then i can just insert the google code in "Spot X". Well im assuming its that simple, but there is one more catch in that i also need to know what those two spots, or templates are called. The left one is probably side_bar_left.tpl the other, i dont know?
