Can anyone recommend a good free php article management script that would be used for a themed online magazine/article site?

If I had more cash I would go with a commercial script but I dont know how these will turn out. So I want to start with something free and then move on to something paid.

    Thanks.

heh are you serious? ofcourse i have. i am asking for a recommended one that someone has either used or currently used. most of them are listing in places like hotscripts or resourceindex. i am trying to identify good ones without having to test them all myself.

most are cms that have basic article management features whereas I am looking for something that has more features.

to get what i want i would have to pay (articlelive php) but i am hoping that i can find a free one that i can modify to start with.

Did you try Article Dashboard Manager?

You can download it for free at http://www.articledashboard.com/download.htm

Super script, but I don't know if it meets your requirements.

Check it out anyway, it's great.

How about something along the lines of textpattern...
    www.textpattern.com
It should be customisable enough to do what you want, and it produces nice xhtml code.

Because I hate geeklog. I have used it for a long time in the past but have issues with it.

I dont think that it is a good choice for the kind of site that I am trying to create where flexibility with the design is essential. geeklog is great for people that want to run a news post/articles(reprints) sites with a forum or something along that lines.

I am trying to create a high quality online mag/article site not just the average run of the mill news/article post site. I am aiming to create an esthetically pleasing site that the visitors and article authors both enjoy.

It would be interesting to know what features it got to have. You know the www.cmsmatrix.org I suppose? Will you have several remote editors etc.?
