PHP and Databases - Any automation?

    Hello all!

    I'm not new to html, but I really don't know much about php or mysql databases. However, I'd like to have one on a site I do for a school organization. I just need something simple. The various club secretaries would fill out a form and their info would be stored in the database each month. Then the regional officer would be able to pull up the information in a nice report. I'm sure this is possible (these days what isn't?) but is there an automated way to do this? Are there scripts and such out that that would help me? Free would be great, but cheap stuff would be alright too.
