there is another thread discussing about this type of BG change with adsense ads. I guess its NO NO but some people claim you can get permission from G.

I dont know or neither interested in implementing it..:)

    No, IMO.

You cannot place images (any images) next to the google adsense ad unit.

Well, it is touch and go. I would ask google if it is alright, I do not see it as too much of a problem as he is not disguising the ads and he has just put a border around it. To be safe you should ask big G

The most that I do to my ads is to place a line border and some space padding and that's it.

Always ask Google for things like this. There were times that I thought I was doing ok and then somebody pointed out that it might be in violation and after checking with Google, it is... in summary, Google always has the correct response ;)

Too risky, in my opinion. There are legitimate ways to make your ad stand out, even if that one is only a "grey area" type deal.

I don't know what the problem is. I think it's a good idea to be honest.

Put the link of that website and someone notify AdSense - and then wait to see if the owner of the website removes that images or it remains the same ... meaning that AdSense allowed it.

Or you can just ask Google? Just a guess, but I think they would know best.

It's against the TOS. I think Jensense addressed this exact issue on her blog a while back - and she talked directly to google.

Technically it's not hard - image attached. I don't have a problem with the border but I'd be surprised if the wings were ok.

From what I have been told by google is that an image being used as a border is okay. I'm not sure of the wings like sarah said, but Google has told me that you can use an image as a border. They are always wishy washy, so always best to ask if its cool or not.

peaches might be correct on this, however the way the site mentioned goes about it is definitely against the TOS since it is bringing attention to the ads by the wings.
