    i use Corel Paint Shop Pro X at the moment, i have just got illustrator CS2, and plan on Buying A Illustrator Book for Dummies, As i want to learn vector etc

    Photoshop is a "tool", it will not make you a good[or bad] designer. If you want to learn how to design, get photoshop student edition and do some free tutorials:

    I know what you mean about starting out in graphic design im doing this myself right now too. Im a graphic design student and i use photoshop. I think photoshop is a program that you need to tinker and play with ALOT to get used to it. Also the tutorials dont hurt. I think photoshop has a free trial too.
