This one is really interesting. So lets get it started. Photoshop vs. Fireworks Advantages, dis-advantages, good points, bad ones and much more. Which one do you use?
i have just switched from fireworks to photoshop in the last 3 weeks. wow have i got a lot to learn in photoshop. It seem as already said so much better packed full of features and when you get to know them, you can create some wonderful stuff. The big plus, there are thousands of tutorials for photoshop and not so many for fireworks
Omg stuff like this is iritating, Photoshop was designed for photo editing, not as a web development tool, nor an illustrating program. It was made for working with photos. Fireworks is superior with it's slicing tools, and web design ability. And adobe illustrator blows photoshop away in terms of illustration.
Don't be confused by the name PHOTOshop. Photoshop is extremely capable of web design, illustration, and pretty much anything our pretty little minds can devise. Photoshop's tools are the favorites of the majority of professionals in web design. I can confidently say that there isn't one thing you can do in Fireworks that you can't do in Photoshop. PS is just as capable of slicing (even though it's an outdated method), optimizing images, and so on. When on the topic of illustration, we can go two routes. For general illustration, drawing, sketching, matte painting, raster designing, etc ... Photoshop takes the lead. When we talk about vector illustrations or even professional logos, Illustrator obviously takes home the prize. Maybe you just aren't familiar with some PS achievements. Take a look on deviantart or cgtalk. I find it a little naive to state that Photoshop can only handle photo manipulation.
I Love PhotoShop. Advantages: It's Really clear, Has good Options of Editing things, And if you want to use Photo's in your designs you can edit them very easily with The Photo Options.
Looks like it does... although I'd say that if you're wanting to create stuff like animated gifs, Fireworks is a lot better than Photoshop - easier to work with, at least. And beginners to vector drawing are certainly going to find Fireworks far simpler, with its huge variety of shape-making tools that are very easy to edit. Vector support in PS is far from intuitive, and in Illustrator it's too complex for most beginners. Simple answer - why not use either as the scenario fits? You're almost certain to end up with both packages anyway now that they're both Adobe owned...
Are you actually going to provide support for anything you say? I provided proof and examples for my argument. Do the same
lol I don't have to prove anything to you, I know what I know. I don't care either way what you think or say. And your so called proof shows nothing. This thread is a time waster. And who are you to demand me to give proof. Ha, a tupac you are not .
If you know what you know and you don't care what we think or say, why post here in the first place? It is a Fireworks vs Photoshop thread after all ...
I completely disagree, I used to make banners, sigs and stuff like that with Fw and now I do the same stuff (and more) with ps.
That shows your lack of skill and comprehension if you can't determine the difference between two difference adobe products.
And that right there shows your lack of ability to create a reasonable argument since, aside from the fact that they do primarily the same tasks, they were once competitors for the same market.
